										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Apart from its majestic beauty, the pink lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera, formerly known as Nymphaea Nelumbo) is held sacred because of the mystical effects it can produce. The Sacred Lotus contains lotusine, demethyl coclaurine, neferin, and nuciferine.</p>
<p>Lotus flowers, pods, or petals are most commonly used, while the flower stamens are reported to be the most potent part of the plant.</p>
<p>Similar in effect to the Sacred Blue Lotus, the Sacred Pink Lotus is often steeped in wine or tea.</p>
<p>According to some it is a very effective sleeping aid.</p>

<li><b>Comes from the Nelumbo Family.</b></li>
<li>There are 19 medicinal constituents in the seeds including saponins, flavonoids, steroids, alkaloids, terpenoids, and cardiac glycosides. A study found that an extract of the flower had elements that bound to several key receptors in the brain and nervous system, 2 cannabinoid receptors, and four opioid receptors.</li>
